Get Proactive Support

Remember the saying, “A stitch in time saves nine?” Like so many things in life, it really is true, especially when it comes to computers. I’ve seen hard drives die and my client thought they were backing up…but they weren’t. Wouldn’t it be nice if I could get automatically notified in these situations, and then reach out to you to get it resolved?

Well, I’ve done it. I have decided to get proactive, and I’d like to ask you to sign up for my new service: Proactive Alerts! Don’t need to read more? Let’s get started.

What is the Proactive Alerts service?

When you sign up, I’ll have you install a lightweight application that runs in the background. Every day it checks your system for potential issues, and if one is found, I will get notified. I can then determine if this is something that should be addressed, and I will get in contact with you to get it resolved.

What gets checked?

Lots! Here’s an overview of 6 key features:

Backup Systems

It’s not a question of if disk drives will fail, but when. I’m a big fan of both Time Machine backups and cloud backup solutions like Crashplan or Backblaze. My Proactive Alerts service will regularly check that backups are completing successfully and will alert me when they are not performing as expected. So you’ll get peace of mind that you’re always backed up.

Disk Drives

Running low on disk space can happen suddenly and when it does, it has real potential to cause corruption and performance issues. I will be alerted if you get close to filling your disk, if the disk has errors, and more.

System Performance

I’ll also be alerted if your computer starts crashing more frequently than it should, if your laptop battery is starting to fail, and more.

If your network (wifi or ethernet cable) starts to have more errors than it should, I’ll get notified.

While not a core feature, my Proactive Alert system has malware checking built in and will notify me if it finds it.

System Information

No longer do I need to spend a few minutes to see what make and model Mac you have. All of this information will be logged and easily accessible to me, saving us both time.

Pricing Information

The Proactive Alerts service is available for $99 a year, per computer. Or, put it on all of your family’s computers (up to 5) for $150 a year. I like to think of the cost as less than one hour of billable time for 365 days a year of proactive checkups.

How do I get started?

Fill out this short form to get the ball rolling. After you submit the form, you’ll be taken to the download page.

Can you see my data?

My Proactive Alerts service does not look at any of your data—it only checks your computer for errors. It’s also very easy to uninstall if you no longer need the service.
